NZ National Party, a Room Full of Hard Men
This page is to note Nationals mistakes and pluses through its, as it may be, short lived time in power. Forgive me for being a pessimist.
10 Dec 2008 National will fund 12-month Herceptin treatment, this is Great News.
Look on as this page grows and grows
12th December 2008 "A RETURN TO THE BAD OLD DAYS" - 1990s Employment Contracts Act taken a step further.National's 90 day policy will lower wages. The policy, which will apply to businesses with fewer than 20 workers, allows employers to dismiss staff in the first three months without risking a personal grievance claim for unjustified dismissal.Employers will become Judge, Jury, and executioner.
13th December 2008 "PARLIAMENT SITS ON SATURDAY - not since the 1990s during Nationals last innings has there been a house sitting on a Saturday for the sole purpose of rushing through thoughtless ill conceived policy changes. In true National Govt manner these policy changes will hurt the poor most, throwing fines of up to TWO THOUSAND dollars at the parents of truants, will devastate these mostly poor families - this policy is a loser for all.
18 Dec 2008 National Party considering banning cellphones in prisons, a very good call. DO IT, this will cut crime in half.
19 Jan 2009 John Key proposes a tax on violent criminals the proceeds of which go to the victims or the family members, Mr key has suggested the tax be around fifty dollars, I personally think these violent scumbags should never be released and if they are, spend the remainder of their miserable lives compensating their victims. Nonetheless a very good positive idea, but hardly a deterrent.
30 January 2009 - Some major NZ banks considering laying off staff and outsourcing the work to Bangalore India, the actions of corperations and greedy bankers, outsourcing work is one of the main reasons for the credit crunch in the first place, I urge all Kiwis to boycott any bank who makes such moves. Mr Key hit the nail on the head saying this was just plain greed, I am beginning to like this prime minister, he dosn`t mince words. 04 January 2009 Telecom announces it will be firing its NZ based call centre staff and moving it to the Philippines where the wages for workers are pitifully low, damn these rotten profiteering sods!, boot telecom out of NZ and start again Mr Key.
16 February 2009 - Parliament considering Act Parties leader Rodney Hide`s idea on crime "Three Strikes and Your Out!" , in itself a small step in the right direction to curb the ever increasing violent crime stats in NZ, But doubtful if it will make a tad of difference!. Personally I think it should be ONE STRIKE and your out, its not fair letting these murderers and rapists destroy good peoples lives, lock them up FOREVER the first time, then they cannot re-offend, and it may stop other sick criminal scum from hurting innocent folk. The only REAL way to stop violent crime is DNA testing of at risk babies and intervene at this level. Naturally work for ALL our youth would significantly cut all crime.
16 February 2009 - National Govt is busy planning an attack on our internet freedom aligning with USAs new copyright laws, which means if you have a family member who downloads some copyrighted media your ISP will be forced to disconnect you PERMANENTLY without trial or reasoning, and the same will apply to schools, businesses, hospitals, who have staff or children download copyrighted media innocently - Although this insane idea was initiated by the previous Labour Govt, Mr Key should have dropped it completely, it`s a blatant crime against all honest internet users and a blow aginst freedom! - this will be disasterous.
23 February 2009 - The National Government is due to announce tomorrow that it is fully reinstating Plunketline's funding, This is GREAT NEWS.
23 February 2009 - The government is offering students in key skill areas, such as medicine, a financial incentive to stay in New Zealand once they qualify and take jobs in traditionally hard-to-staff areas, another PLUS for Mr Keys Govt, Mr Key is shaping up to be a top Knotch PM, and got to say I like him, as he has so far shown us his govt is nothing like the shocking 1990s National Government.
Proposed "Tax Cuts" due to come in April 2009, very very bad move, these tax cuts could and probably will cripple NZ for 20yrs into the future, it doesn`t take a scientist to see what will happen if these tax cuts proceed, first we will have a huge drop in social services and the health sector will become as bad as it was during the 1990s. Tax Cuts will only help the high income earners who do not spend as much in the local economy, what needs to happen is Tax Freezes on High income earners and massive tax cuts for the middle to low earners who always spend their monies in the local economies, DONT DO IT Mr KEY!, at least until we see an end to this recession. Mr Key you would serve the people better if you put more effort into keeping local manufacturing businesses afloat instead of importing crap from China, big incentives should be given for buying NZ made!.
08 March 2008 - National party sacks chairman of ACC Ross Wilson, amid accusations of huge budget blowout of Accident Corporations funds and investments. National Party is blaming the Labour party for the billion dollar blowout, more likely to be a result of the global recession, and just another step towards privatisation of the respected NZ ACC, this is one to keep a close eye on. Ross Wilson a staunch Labour Party policy supporter, sounds to me like National doing a bit of selective cleansing!.Here we go again, back to the brutal ACC reforms of the 1990s.
08 March 2008 - National Party wants to reinstate privately operated prisons, sounds to me like we are following the USAs system that has been highly successful,NOT!!), Private prisons are well known to be easily corrupted, prisons should always stay in the hands of the state. This is a huge mistake that will be overturned by the next incoming government.
15 March 2009 - TVone News, National Party says funds are no longer available for rubbish recycling scemes and is also pulling the plug on the Labour parties environmental programmes. Watch NZ turn into a rubbish dump. National is not the right government for our clean green NZ, the nats are compromising our image and will inevitably effect our export status.
29 March 2009 -National Parties "Tax Cuts" due to start April 01, lower paid workers end up with ZERO tax cuts, since 80% of the NZ workforce earns under $40.000pa there will be a huge amount of disillusioned and frustrated workers who voted for National. This is a very bad move by the government during a time when the lower paid should be the ones receiving the the biggest reduction in taxes. Workers who voted for National thinking "they will make things better" are very much mistaken once again, I`m afraid National has always robbed the poor.
20 April 2008 NZ pulls out of UN talks on Racism,Good move by Mr Key to pull out of this what will be useless discussions with Ahmadinejad (well known antisemite).
12 May 2009 - Controversial Christine Rankin Reinstated, better keep a close eye on the expense accounts!. Yes it is beginning to look like the 1990s line up.
12 May 2009 - National ditches the proposed Auckland Tunnels, opting for more motorways, displacing hundreds of homes, schools etc.
14 May 2009 - Nationals Christine Rankin about to be appointed as Families Commissioner, Not a good idea, given her past of extravagant overspending when in charge of NZ Welfare department during Nationals 1990s Government--there will be huge opposition for Mrs Rankin taking this role.
28 May 2009 - National Party delivers its 2009 budget, Bill English did the right thing, a cautious budget but shows they are using their brain, well done National!. As Mr English stated regarding the growing unemployment "leave a generation at the side of the road", in my view this will create a genaration of inmates, my suggestion to the National govt is to open workshops and produce everything in NZ to keep our youth employed, otherwise our whole system will collapse and fall into chaos.
03 July 2009 - National MP Nick Smith announces vicious cuts to ACC entitlements, amoung these savage cuts are Mental Trauma, Dr Smith is blaming Labout Govt for the massive funds blowout, in reality it was the credit crunch and sour ACC investments that are the cause, All the advances Labour has made to ACC is about to be unravelled. Just another step in the Nats plan to privatise ACC!.
04 July 2009 - Good to see Winston Peters making a comeback, Mr Peters is a welcome sight in the political forum offering the truth and justice for aging people who are the targets of cutbacks by the National Govt.
19 July 2009 - Mr Key says NO! to Folic acid fortification of all bread in NZ, good call Mr Key, folic acid should be added to some bread (and clearly labelled) for expectant mothers to eat, not forced upon the entire population.
23 July 2009 - National Party talking of "Selling Off Core Assets", this has the smell of Bill English all over it!,the previous Labour Govt stopped acts like this in its tracks, now the Nats will overturn that and we will go down that nasty road of selling off to unfriendly profiteering foreigners, who will care little of NZ. There has to be SERIOUS OPPOSITION to this ill willed national act!.
27 July 2009 - National Party about to embark on talks of raising the retirement age to 67yrs, this will be political suicide for the National party, it was Jim Bolgers National party of the 1990s who raised the age from 60 to 65. Raising the age will do two things, a) increase unemployment, b) increase sickness benefit numbers. During the 1990s a huge number of aging migrants were able to come to NZ and be eligible for NZ super without having worked in NZ or contributing through tax input. Most people especially men who have worked in menial jobs since the 1960s are well past their due date to retire without the stress of mandatory job searching!!. It is far better to wealth test NZ Super. Stick to your Guns Mr Key, Dont Do It!
28 July 2009 - Paula Bennett head of Work and Income NZ (WINZ) breaches the privacy act, Bennett divulged publicly the income of two solo mothers on the Domestic Purposes Benefit (DPB), PM John Key seems to support Bennetts actions. Paula bennett should be sacked from this position of trust, as she would have had to sign a privacy statement on commencing her high profile job, we also must remember Bennett herself started as a solo mother relying on the DPB and taxpayer funding for educational services!. And for all you crying taxpayes "watch out you or one of your family members dont end up on welfare". It is my hope a few lawyers come to the aid of these ill treated solo mothers, Bennett should face the full wrath of the law in this case. I thank god I and my family did not vote for the National Party.
03 Aug 2009 - Prime Minister John Key today announced a $152 million package to create new work, education and training opportunities for unemployed young people. This is a good move, but I hold fears this will take work of older people with families to support during this depression, however worth a try because our youth are a very important part of the future, so we have to look after them.
05 Aug 2009 - Local Radios advertising for sickness and invalids beneficiaries to sign up for work, this is the worst move, and reflects badly on the National party when there is 6% unemployment and growing daily, Get Jobs For Our Teens and able bodied unemployed family people FIRST Mr Key!!, a typical National trick, Labour would have done better!. Helen Clark says "the people behind Key are people responsible for disastrous policies in the 1990s which got National booted out in 1999".
10 August 2009 - Mr Key says we will send SAS troops to Afghanistan, this is a very wise choice, Islamic terror threatens all western democracies and has to be stopped at any cost.
16 Aug 2009 - National party considering re-instating the live sheep export market to Saudi Arabia, This very cruel practice has to be STOPPED, Saudi arabia has no regard for animal welfare and there slaughter is long and drawn out, and used in the barbaric bloody ritual killings at ramadan, we as a Christian based nation say: NO WAY to this horrific act of cruelty!
17 Aug 2009 - Nick Smith rolls out his regressive policy change to ACC, cutting ACC subsidies to physio therapy, a step back to the 1990s when the national Govt wrecked ACC. This will drag injured people into further poverty and hinder rehabilitation, its a loser all round!, another case of the nats targeting the most vulnerable!.
19 Aug 2009 - Act Party leader Rodney Hide says NO! to Maori seats in the Auckland Super City, Hide threats "if he gives Maori the seats, he will walk as Local Government Minister", in a leaked email. Mr Key should let him "walk".
21 Aug 2009 - National poll on Sue Bradfords "Anti Smacking Law" - a resounding NO! to this repugnant law, Mr Key will have to listen to the people and delete this ill thought law from the record books, or will face the wrath of the country next elections
24 Aug 2009 - National says NO! to Maori seats in Aucklands Super City - Stand by for a snap election very soon, the Key Govt will pay dearly for this one.
25 Aug 2009 - Nationals Tau Henare calls Rodney Hide a "buffoon" and a "jerk-off,". Have to admit I agree with Mr Henare`s verbalisations, can only see bad things happening with the current ACT party line up.
02 Sept 2009 - Mr Key, Do not place budgetary restrictions on our police force. What happened to Nationals promise to toughen up on crime, at a time when crime has got honest kiwis very worried!.
16 Sept 2009 - National Govt to make home insulation free for some 2000 Maori homes - Clearly divisive, grants based on race - there are many non maori families who are unable to afford home insulation!, this is just not right!
29 Sept 2009 - Thought National Govt was going to toughen up on crime!. The brutal road rage murder of Jasmatbhai Patel, 78, in the Auckland suburb of Mt Albert on April 7 - Justice Judith Potter sentenced Bio O'Brien, 28, to only THREE YEARS imprisonment for this horrific act of violence. These pathetic dogooder judges need some real life lessons!.
14 Oct 2009 - Nationals Nick Smith announces his brutal levies and cutbacks for ACC, these horrific and unjust cutbacks will cause maximum pain and loss of rehabilitation for many NZers. National Govt is showing its true colours now, almost a carbon copy of the Shipley / Bolger govt of the 1990s.
16 Oct 2009 - Nick Smith`s plans on brutal ACC changes are thwarted temporarily as ACT party Rodney Hide wants to go whole hog and open up ACC to to other market players and eventual privatisation, to which Mr Key seems eager to accept. - Typical National govt actions, soon to be seen the outcry from welfare / church groups as national Party targets the most weak and vulnerable in society!. Futhermore the public knows that ACT and National are really one and the same.
16 Oct 2009 - Victims of crime get a boost of $10.8 million, a small step in the right direction, mostly what victims want is life to mean life!, in this ridiculous system where criminals are slapped with a wet bus ticket. No wonder criminals are laughing at the system!. Consensus is that the National govt does one good deed to cover up the bad ones, eg ACC, the same day??.
16 Oct 2009 - Nick Smith proposes massive hikes to motorcycle/moped registration to cover the high risk of injuries that ACC has to pay out for. - 91% of motorcycle accidents are the fault of the car driver, therefore the cost should be spread through ALL vehicle registration. - More of the National govt targeting small groups of people!.
27 Oct 2009 - John Key shakes hand on free trade agreement with Malaysia - is this good for NZ? - what has free trade with Asia done for NZ employment, Firestone ChCh Closes, cheap imported Chinese tyres. Will Malaysia buy our pork?, no it`s not halal!
28 Oct 2009 - Nationals finance minister Mr Bill English in a TV advert spouting off how we are coming out of the recession and he attributes it to the National Govt -- What a load of Crap! - with over 6% unemployed and growing, how can this liar say things like that when families are hurting - when fat cat politicians on their $100,000+ PA salaries there is no recession! --National Govt Propaganda.
05 Nov 2009 - Leaked email from Maori Party MP Hone Harawira Te Tai Tokerau "white mother******!", gave the nation a good view of how radical Maori feel about europeans, funny thing is these radicals are living off and being funded by our hardworking taxpayers, hope this foulmouthed scumbag gets sacked. Anti White activists are dropping NZ into fearsome trouble where we will all have to fight and suffer great losses on both sides in the future.
29 Nov 2009 - Don Brash proposes a "catch up with Australia" bill to reduce taxes to a flat rate across the board, to achieve this it will mean massive cuts in ALL social services, police, hospitals, pensions etc. Such proposals if legislated will knock NZ back to the dark age, it is idiot bankers like Brash who played a large part in this global recession, we hope Mr Key bins this one!.
14 Dec 2009 - Prime Minister John Key sets the path for complete apartheid here in NZ with the flying of the Maori sovereignty flag alongside our national flag, "one nation two flags??" this is an action we will pay dearly for in a few years down the track.
17 Dec 2009 - The National Government is close to a decision that would see millions of dollars set aside to fund a separate Maori welfare system. More Racial Division C/- National Party!
25 Dec 2009 - National Party about to start closing down schools (as they did during the 1990s) starting with Aorangi School in Christchurch, PM John Key`s former school, anything to save a buck a nats, to hell with people!.
19 Jan 2010 - National and Act party finally hits out at dangerous criminals with the "Three Strikes and You`re Out", eg; offenders convicted 3 times lengthens the jail time. Don`t think this will have any impact on violent crime, however worth a try!.
21 Jan 2010 - National Party considering radical tax changes proposed by "the Tax Working Group"--amoung some of these changes are a GST rise to up to 17%, and property tax on the Mum and dads who have a rental property for their retirement!.
Not ON! this will ruin NZ and the Poor will be in real trouble!!!
07 Feb 2010 - PM John Key dreams on about "Catching up With Australia" - this has to be a joke, anyone in their right mind knows New Zealands economy can NEVER catch up with Austalia and it`s mineral wealth, absolutely ridiculous!.
10 Feb 2010 - National party considering raising GST from 12.5 to 15%, guess whoes going to suffer ---> Low paid, beneficiaries, in fact everyone will struggle with this, as it will increase everything, food, electricity, insurance, all amenities, everything is too expensive already!!!!. This will bring REAL HARDSHIP to families.
24 Feb 2010 - In True Brutal National Party Style, the nats rushed through law changes to the ACC System - this will hurt many NZ`ers and we will once again see a huge increase in numbers on the sickness/invalids benefit. Another step in Nationals selfish plan to privatize ACC.
